PURPOSE

OF THE

Hana Cultural Center

  1. To form a non-profit association for benevolent, charitable, scientific, educational, and other similar purposes.

  2. To aid, assist and encourage in the research, discovery, and preservation of historical and cultural items, places, and information concerning the district of Hana, Maui, Hawaii.

  3. To aid, assist and encourage individuals, private and public groups and organizations with the historical research and preservation of knowledge and culture relating to Hana and its surrounding areas.

  4. To seek, receive, and keep documents, photographs, publications, artifacts relating to Hana and its surrounding areas.

  5. To receive, maintain and hold by bequest, devise, gift, or otherwise, either absolute or in trust, for any of its purposes, any property either real or personal, any fund or funds without limitation as to amounts or value; to convey such property and to invest and reinvest any principal and/or interest, and to direct, manage and expend the principal and/or interest of the corporation and administer the special funds for various purposes outlined herein, as agreed upon by the corporation and agency or agencies making such funds available and for other purposes.

  6. To foster, encourage and stimulate the development of instruction among the local groups and schools in Hawaiian History and history of other ethnic groups as they influence the growth of Hana.

  7. To stimulate interest among all citizens and races in Hawaiian and other ethnic culture as they contribute and relate to the growth of Hana.

  8. To publish papers, house organs and periodicals appropriate to the history and culture of Hana.

  9. To do and perform every act and thing necessary or convenient to carry out the purposes and objectives enumerated herein with all the powers, rights and privileges necessary or incidental granted by the laws of the State of Hawaii, except such as are inconsistent with the express provisions of the By-Laws of this corporation and laws of the State of Hawaii relating to non-profit corporation.
